KARACHI (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday stated that the government was following an agenda of fundamental reforms for sustainable development.
Addressing the Pakistan Banking Summit 2025, the minister highlighted “the crucial role of the banking sector in the national economy.”
He mentioned that the banking sector has surpassed the oil and gas sector in tax payments. The sector contributed Rs30 billion to the exchequer, he added.
Aurangzeb, who is a senator also, said that the national economy was progressing. The government has been following an agenda of fundamental reforms for sustainable economic stability, he continued.
He said the approval of bills by provincial assemblies to impose agriculture tax was a significant development. Consultations for the next budget have been going on. The government expenses would be cut through the rightsizing policy, he stated.
Finance Minister Aurangzeb said that hike in exports was essential for economic growth and stability. Every sector must contribute to the country’s exports.
Getting investment in every sector is a priority for the government, he said and added that it would continue to facilitate business community at every forum.
