Planning ministry submits Green Pakistan Initiative report to IMF

Ministry of Finance had directed Planning Commission to prepare the report following IMF's requests
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning officials briefed the visiting International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation during an introductory session regarding the economic review for the release of the next installment of $1 billion from the $7 billion bailout package.
According to sources, the Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Planning submitted the Green Initiative Report to the global lender.
Additionally, the Ministry of Planning provided a report on climate change projects as part of the Green Initiative.
The Ministry of Finance had directed the Planning Commission to prepare the report following the IMF's request, which was included in the initial demands by the IMF.
Sources from the Planning Commission stated that the meeting also discussed the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) expenditures and cuts for the current fiscal year.
Besides, officials from the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning provided a briefing during the introductory session.
According to Ministry of Finance sources, the economic team would begin formal negotiations with the IMF delegation starting tomorrow.
As per the schedule, meetings with the IMF will be held tomorrow with the Ministry of Finance and other ministries.
