Summary The Pakistani rupee gained slightly as the US dollar fell by three paisas in the interbank market, closing at Rs279.02 compared to Rs279.05 previously.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Pakistani rupee showed further stability against the US Dollar in the interbank market on Thursday, as the greenback recorded a slight decline.

According to market data, the dollar depreciated by three paisas during the fourth trading day of the business week, closing at Rs279.02 in the interbank market.

This marks a marginal improvement for the local currency, which had closed at Rs279.05 against the dollar in the previous session.

Currency dealers noted that the rupee’s stability reflects relatively balanced demand and supply in the market, alongside improved sentiment driven by recent economic and policy developments.

Despite ongoing external pressures, the local currency has managed to hold its ground in recent sessions, signalling cautious optimism among investors and traders.

Financial experts, however, emphasised the need for sustained macroeconomic stability, increased foreign inflows, and consistent policy measures to maintain the rupee’s positive trajectory in the coming weeks.

The interbank market remains a key indicator of currency trends, with even minor fluctuations closely watched by businesses and policymakers due to their impact on imports, inflation, and overall economic performance.
