Summary Punjab mandates Green Property Certificate for all land transactions, replacing traditional documents to improve transparency and reduce disputes through digital reforms.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Punjab government has announced a major overhaul of the land and property transaction system, introducing a new mechanism aimed at improving transparency and reducing disputes.

Under the reform, the buying and selling of land and property will now be conducted exclusively through a Green Property Certificate, replacing traditional documents such as the conventional fard for sale and other manual records.

The newly introduced certificate will simultaneously verify both ownership and possession, streamlining the process and minimising the risk of fraud.

The initiative has initially been rolled out in major cities, with plans for phased expansion to other districts across the province.

Officials say the move is part of a broader land digitalisation campaign, which has already shown significant progress. Citizens have been directed to visit land record centres to obtain the Green Property Certificate.

Authorities believe that the shift to a digital land management system will significantly reduce property disputes while enhancing efficiency and public trust. The reform is being described as a key milestone in modernising Punjab’s land governance framework.
