Summary UAE increased petrol prices by about 8% for May due to global oil trends, while diesel remained unchanged, offering limited relief to transport sector.
DUBAI (Dunya News) – The United Arab Emirates has increased petrol prices by around eight per cent for May, while keeping diesel rates unchanged, according to the Fuel Price Committee.
The revised rates, effective from May 1, reflect rising global oil prices and continued geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have influenced international energy markets.
Under the new pricing, Super 98 petrol has been raised to 3.66 dirhams per litre from 3.39 dirhams in April. Special 95 petrol now costs 3.55 dirhams per litre, up from 3.28 dirhams, while E-Plus 91 has increased to 3.48 dirhams per litre compared to 3.20 dirhams previously.
Overall, petrol prices across all categories have seen an increase of nearly eight per cent. However, diesel prices have remained unchanged at 4.69 dirhams per litre, providing some relief to transport and logistics sectors.
The adjustment highlights the UAE’s policy of aligning domestic fuel prices with global market trends. Experts say fluctuations in crude oil prices and regional uncertainties continue to impact fuel costs.
