KARACHI (Dunya News) - An oil and gas well that had remained closed for 12 years has been reactivated, after which production of millions of cubic feet of gas and hundreds of barrels of oil has begun.
According to a letter sent by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the well Fais X-1 in Gambat, Sindh, was shut in 2014 due to lack of infrastructure despite discovery and potential production in the province.

The letter stated that to bring the well into production, it was linked with pipelines of other wells, while deep underground sections were separated and complex operations were completed using modern technology.
PPL further said that a 4.5-kilometre feeder line was laid to activate production capacity, with daily gas output of 3.6 million standard cubic feet (MMSCFD) and light crude oil production of 750 barrels per day. The production process began on February 25, 2026 and has been gradually increased in phases.
