ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday as discussions begin over preparations for the federal budget for fiscal year 2026–27.

According to sources, the economic team’s formal engagement with the IMF mission on budget formulation will commence on May 13 and continue until May 20.

The talks will focus on key fiscal measures, including tax revenue targets, policy reforms, and proposed development expenditures for the upcoming budget.

Officials said discussions will also cover steps aimed at improving fiscal discipline and ensuring better alignment between government spending and overall budgetary planning.

The IMF team is expected to review Pakistan’s macroeconomic framework, revenue mobilisation strategy, and expenditure priorities as part of the ongoing consultation process.

Authorities added that the engagement forms part of broader efforts to strengthen financial stability and maintain economic reform momentum ahead of the new fiscal year.
