Summary Pakistan’s Economic Coordination Committee approved billions in grants for infrastructure, security, energy, and development projects, including PSO financing, safe city expansion
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of Pakistan has approved a series of substantial financial grants and funding packages worth billions of rupees for various national development, security, and infrastructure projects.
The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, where key budgetary and technical supplementary grants were cleared for multiple sectors across the country.
Among the major approvals, the ECC sanctioned over Rs7.02 billion for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programme as a technical supplementary grant aimed at supporting development targets.
A significant allocation of Rs10.15 billion was approved for the Pakistan Navy’s Hangor Project, while Rs692.9 million was allocated for security arrangements related to the Islamabad Peace Talks. The committee also approved Rs241 million for victims of the Khadija-tul-Kubra Imambargah blast in Islamabad.
For infrastructure and operational needs, Rs528 million was approved for the Pakistan Land Ports Authority, while Rs800 million was allocated for the procurement of fast patrol boats and infrastructure for the Pakistan Coast Guards.
The Islamabad Safe City expansion project received Rs1.8837 billion, aimed at enhancing urban surveillance and security systems in the federal capital.
The ECC also approved Rs150 million for NACTA operational requirements and Rs413.9 million for security expenses related to the Reko Diq mining project. Additionally, Rs733 million was released for Pakistan Television employees’ salaries for June 2026.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, Rs183.5 million was approved for the installation of telecom towers in Shigar district to improve connectivity in remote areas.
Further allocations included Rs119.9 million for parliamentary secretaries’ salaries and allowances, and Rs8.7589 billion for urban infrastructure development packages in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The committee also approved Rs2.84 billion for SAP projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Rs1.3 billion for the upgrade of Pakistan Mint facilities.
For Gilgit-Baltistan, Rs4.377 billion was approved for ongoing expenditures and priority development initiatives.
The ECC additionally approved the budget honorary policy covering multiple government departments, including the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Law, and AGPR.
Other approvals included IPO Pakistan’s budget estimates for FY2025–26, continuation of operational activities of Engro Vopak Terminal Limited, and a syndicate financing facility of up to Rs100 billion for Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
A revised framework of the Deed of Settlement with SNGPL was also approved, paving the way for refinery upgrade projects.
The committee further approved Rs2.99 million for residential rent payments for the Economic Affairs Division and Rs30 million for the expansion and upgrade of the Parliament House mosque.
