KARACHI (Web Desk) – Tomato prices have surged to as high as Rs500 per kilogram in Karachi, with consumers seeing no relief despite the arrival of imported tomatoes from Iran.
According to media reports, traders across the city are selling Iranian and Quetta-grown tomatoes at prices ranging from Rs450 to Rs500 per kilogram, or between Rs110 and Rs125 per quarter kilogram.
Some vendors are offering smaller-sized or unripe tomatoes at around Rs400 per kilogram, but prices remain significantly higher than usual.
The continued price hike has added to the burden on consumers, even as Iranian tomato shipments have reached local markets.
