ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – More than one million registrations have been completed under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, while over 800,000 tokens have been generated across the country, according to the Ministry of Information Technology.
The ministry said on Thursday that implementation of the scheme was being monitored in real time through a 24-hour control room.
According to figures released by the ministry, registrations under the programme have crossed the one-million mark, indicating substantial public participation since the scheme was launched.
More than 800,000 tokens have also been generated for beneficiaries to access the fuel relief provided under the programme, the ministry said.
Punjab and Islamabad are currently leading in token redemptions, according to the ministry. It said eligible people across the country were benefiting from the government initiative.
The fuel relief programme was introduced to provide targeted assistance to eligible consumers amid pressure from fuel prices and broader living costs.
Under the government-approved framework, motorcycle and rickshaw users in the targeted low-income category are entitled to fuel relief of Rs500 per week, while eligible owners of cars with engines of up to 800cc can receive Rs1,000 every 10 days.
The scheme is intended for non-commercial consumers, with relief restricted to one eligible vehicle per owner.
The latest registration and token-generation figures provide an early indication of the scale of the programme. However, the number of tokens generated does not necessarily represent the number actually redeemed by beneficiaries.
The government has placed emphasis on digital registration and token-based disbursement to facilitate delivery of the subsidy to eligible consumers and monitor its implementation.
The Ministry of IT said its round-the-clock control room was monitoring the programme nationwide, including the registration and redemption process.
