Govt raises profit rates on National Savings schemes

Summary The federal government has increased profit rates on several National Savings schemes, including Defence, Behbood, Pensioners’ Benefit, Regular Income, Special Savings and Sarwa Islamic accounts.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The federal government has increased profit rates on several National Savings schemes, with the Ministry of Finance issuing a notification announcing the revised rates.

According to the notification, the profit rate on Defence Savings Certificates has been increased by 19 basis points, taking the new rate to 11.80%.

The profit rate on Behbood Savings Certificates and Pensioners’ Benefit Accounts has been increased by 12 basis points to 12.72%.

The rate for Regular Income Certificates has been raised by 60 basis points, with the new profit rate set at 11.76%.

Similarly, the profit rate on Special Savings Certificates has been increased by up to 74 basis points, taking the new rate to 11.82%.

The government has also revised profit rates for Sarwa Islamic Term Accounts. The three-year plan has received an increase of 41 basis points, bringing the rate to 11.57%.

The five-year Sarwa Islamic Term Account plan has seen an increase of 54 basis points, with its new profit rate set at 11.70%.

The revised rates will apply to the respective National Savings schemes under the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance.
