KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Pakistani rupee strengthened slightly against the US dollar in the interbank market on Friday, gaining three paisas by the close of trading.

According to exchange-rate data, the dollar settled at Rs277.07, compared with Rs277.10 at the previous session’s close. 

The marginal appreciation came on the final trading day of the week, extending the rupee’s recent gradual improvement against the US currency.

The rupee has recorded small gains against the dollar in recent sessions. It closed at Rs277.10 on Thursday after appreciating by one paisa from the previous day’s Rs277.11. 

The latest movement keeps the interbank exchange rate around the Rs277 level, with the local currency showing relative stability in recent trading sessions.

Market participants continue to monitor developments affecting foreign-exchange demand, including international oil prices, external financing and broader economic conditions. 

In the open market, the dollar was reported at Rs277.90 for buying and Rs278.10 for selling on Friday, according to the Forex Association of Pakistan. (UrduPoint)

The euro, meanwhile, declined by Rs1.23 to close at Rs311.60, while the British pound fell by 46 paisas to Rs365.85. The Saudi riyal and UAE dirham remained unchanged at Rs73.79 and Rs75.44, respectively. 

The latest exchange-rate movement comes as investors and businesses continue to closely watch developments in Pakistan’s external account, commodity prices and international financial conditions.
