Summary Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered a comprehensive winter gas load management plan, prioritising domestic consumers for local gas while allocating RLNG to power generation and industrial needs.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan for gas load management during the upcoming winter and ensure all necessary measures are taken in advance.
A meeting chaired by the prime minister reviewed gas demand and supply and preparations for managing the expected winter demand.
The meeting was informed that domestic consumers would be given priority in the supply of locally produced gas, while RLNG would be prioritised to meet the requirements of power generation and industry.
The government will also launch a public awareness campaign to encourage households to use alternative energy sources instead of locally produced gas, the briefing said.
Authorities are taking measures to ensure uninterrupted transmission of gas from reserves in the northern areas, while Prime Minister Shehbaz directed that all necessary steps be taken to ensure uninterrupted gas imports in view of the prevailing regional situation.
The meeting also considered a proposal to introduce bank financing facilities for electric appliances used for water and space heating, aimed at encouraging consumers to shift towards electricity-based heating solutions.
Federal ministers and senior government officials attended the meeting.
