KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan is seeking to strengthen its position in the global critical minerals market, with estimated mineral reserves valued at $8 trillion, according to a report by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL).

The report states that 92 minerals have been discovered in the country, of which 52 are being extracted commercially. Despite this resource potential, the mining sector contributes less than 3% to Pakistan’s gross domestic product (GDP).

With effective policies and greater investment, Pakistan’s mineral exports could increase from $3 billion to $8 billion, the report suggests.
