(Web Desk) - A majestic opening ceremony for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was held at the historic Diwan-e-Aam of Lahore Fort on Sunday night.
In his address, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that the global cricket community was closely monitoring Pakistan's preparedness for the tournament.
He called the opportunity to host the event a “great honour” for the country and highlighted the speedy renovations of Gaddafi and National stadiums, ensuring the event’s success.

Naqvi also reiterated the PCB's commitment to showcasing Pakistan’s rich culture and hospitality, stating that the tournament would reflect the warmth and love of the Pakistani people.
Apart from PCB Chairman's Adviser Amir Mir and Wahab Riaz, players of the cricket team who won the Champions Trophy in 2017 - Sarfraz Ahmed, Junaid Khan, Hasan Ali, Azhar Ali, Mohammad Amir, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim and Haris Sohail - attended the ceremony.
In addition, former South African batsman JP Duminy and Kiwi fast bowler Tim Southee also attended the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony, set against the majestic backdrop of Pakistan's rich heritage, offered a spectacular blend of cricketing excellence and cultural beauty. The event was attended by prominent cricket figures, PCB officials, and passionate fans, making it a truly memorable occasion.
Among the attendees were Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan and Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar.
