LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan's interim head coach Aqib Javed has called for consistency in cricket board and its policies to yield better results in the game.

Javed was addressing a press conference after Mohammad Rizwan-led side was eliminated from the outgoing Champions Trophy 2025 as they suffered defeat in matches against New Zealand and India.

Lamenting over massive changes made in four to five years in cricket affairs of Pakistan, he said there must be a long-term policy without which it is difficult to work.

“We need consistency in every aspect,” he said. “We compare our players with others but never talk about inconsistency, he insisted”.

Responding to a question, the interim head coach said: “I have never been a job seeker as I do things on my own wish”.

Aqib Javed, who responded to the fiery questions calmly, said it was a defeat for a team and not for a player.

A journalist asked Aqib Javed, "Were you satisfied with the team selection?" He replied, "You can never be satisfied with the selection. No one can be satisfied after losing."

He said the best team had been selected, but the performance did not meet expectations and it's a reality. Defending the selection, he said every player made it to the national squad on the basis of his performance.

Answering another question, he said: "Apart from Babar, what other options do we have for opener?" The interim coach said there must be impact players in the team for various reasons. It is not possible to just replace the players, who lost with the Under-19 team, he said.

“When forming the team, our aim was to build the best possible squad for the tournament,” he said.

The players themselves are disappointed with their performance, he said while assuring the nation that the team was putting in best effort.

Aqib further said the emotions during a match between India and Pakistan are different.

"We will continue to focus on our efforts, and now we will prepare ourselves and the team for tomorrow's match," he said.
