Sri Lanka’s fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana misses T20 World Cup due to leg injury; Dilshan Madhushanka replaces him ahead of Thursday’s match against Zimbabwe.
(Web Desk) – Sri Lanka fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a leg injury.
Pathirana sustained the injury while bowling against Australia, and scans revealed that he will require several weeks to recover.
The 25-year-old Dilshan Madhushanka has been included in the squad as his replacement for the event.
Madhushanka last played a T20 match in July 2024. In his 15 matches, he has taken 15 wickets at an average of 31.86 and an economy rate of 9.75.
Sri Lanka will next face Zimbabwe on February 19, Thursday. Both teams have already qualified for the Super 8 stage.
