Summary A notorious dacoit surrendered in Punjab’s katcha operation, where dozens have been killed or arrested, as authorities continue efforts to eliminate criminal networks.

RAHIM YAR KHAN (Dunya News) – A notorious outlaw has surrendered during a joint operation by police and security forces in the riverine katcha area of Punjab, officials confirmed on Sunday.

According to the District Police Officer of Rahim Yar Khan, the wanted dacoit Ahmed Bakhraani laid down arms during the ongoing crackdown. A bounty of Rs10 million had been placed on his head, and he was wanted in dozens of serious criminal cases.

Authorities said the large-scale operation in the katcha region has so far resulted in 66 dacoits being killed, while 101 suspects have been arrested in injured condition.

Officials further revealed that a total of 320 dangerous outlaws have surrendered since the start of the operation, marking significant progress in efforts to restore law and order in the area.

The DPO emphasised that all surrendered suspects would face legal proceedings in accordance with the law, adding that the operation would continue without interruption until the last criminal element is apprehended.

Security forces have pledged to maintain pressure on criminal networks operating in riverine belts, long considered safe havens for organised gangs.
