(Web Desk) - American rapper Macklemore has announced that all three shows on his newly launched “Free Palestine” European tour sold out almost immediately after tickets went on sale.

The rapper shared the news in an Instagram post on Wednesday, saying he was “blown away” by the response to the concerts.

According to Macklemore, the shows were organised quickly with support from a community of artists and activists. He said the events were intended to demonstrate musicians’ solidarity with Palestinians, raise funds and highlight the potential of collective action. He added that the artists scheduled to perform alongside him would be revealed soon.

The tour was announced days after Macklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran’s US tour following his public advocacy for Palestinian rights.

The controversy began on September 4 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where Macklemore used his opening performance to call for a “Free Palestine”. He told the audience that he wanted people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank to know they had not been forgotten. He also performed his protest track “Hind’s Hall”.

His comments prompted a petition from the Israeli American Council. Macklemore also alleged that influential stadium owners, including New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, had pressured organisers over his statements.

The dispute subsequently affected Sheeran’s tour, with several supporting acts, including Finneas, Lukas Graham and Irish band Beoga, withdrawing in solidarity with Macklemore.

Meanwhile, Macklemore has described the response to his advocacy as part of a broader discussion about artistic expression and political speech.

“When those in power try to silence our calls for liberation, art will always be a form of resistance,” he wrote in his Instagram post.
