Petition claims derogatory language against govt, judiciary was used in Sept 8 rally
LAHORE (Dunya News) - A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking to avoid rally by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The petition, submitted by citizen Mirza Wahid Rafique through lawyer Nadeem Sarwar, named the Punjab government and others respondents.
It argued that the PTI leaders had consistently approached the court regarding security concerns but was now planning a rally in Lahore that was contrary to their previous stance.
The petition noted that during PTI's rally on Sept 8, derogatory language was used against the government and judiciary.
The petitioner further claimed that the PTI intended to hold the rally without administrative approval. It further stateed that there was a chance that leadership might deliver speeches against the judiciary.
The petition accused the PTI of misusing relaxations in the constitution regarding freedom of speech.
The petition requested the LHC to prohibit the PTI from making anti-judiciary speeches and to stop the rally from taking place without administrative consent.
It also requested stringent action against PTI for holding the rally without permission.
The PTI has requested the district administration for the permission for a rally on September 21.
The PTI leadership in their statements intended to hold a rally even without the permission from local administration.
