ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Defense Minister Khawaja Asif emphasised that closing doors of dialogue is contrary to democratic principles and stressed the need for continued negotiations to resolve issues.

Speaking to the media at Parliament House, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader stated that discussions are a key to address the current challenges. He added that if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) refuses to engage in talks, it would be a futile exercise, and the path to dialogue seems to be closing.

Meanwhile, government negotiations committee spokesperson Irfan Siddiqui announced that if PTI does not participate in the talks, the committee may consider dissolving itself.

He clarified that the Speaker has not postponed the negotiation session, but if PTI abstains, their decision will be deemed final.

Siddiqui further noted that the government held three lengthy meetings addressing PTI’s demands, but PTI has indicated an end to negotiations, leaving no justification to keep seven parties confined within the committee
