KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has announced to observe a Black Day across Sindh on February 8, protesting against alleged rigging in recent elections, deteriorating law and order, controversial PECA laws, and issues related to new canal projects.

GDA’s Secretary-General Dr. Safdar Abbasi stated that “February 8 marks one of the darkest days in Pakistan's history, where the mandate of Sindh’s people was blatantly stolen through record-level rigging, and GDA candidates were forcibly defeated.”

To mark the protest, GDA workers will wave black flags and wear black armbands. Alongside they will organise peaceful demonstrations outside press clubs in district headquarters.

Dr. Abbasi criticised the 26th constitutional amendment, claiming it has triggered a constitutional crisis. He also alleged that judges are now being appointed based on political affiliations, raising concerns about the transparency of the judicial system.

Condemning the controversial PECA amendments, he asserted, “These oppressive laws cannot silence the voice of free journalism. The government must immediately repeal these anti-people PECA laws.”
