LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday the efforts of Maryam Nawaz to uplift Punjab were praiseworthy.
He pointed out the downward trajectory of inflation and said "it shows that the economy is on the path of recovery".
Nawaz Sharif, alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, met with Punjab Assembly members from Gujranwala, Narowal, and Sialkot to discuss the country's political situation, development projects, and public welfare initiatives in the province.
The former premier highlighted a few aspects of economic recovery, citing declining inflation and a rising stock market as signs of stability. He acknowledged PM Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts at the centre and praised Maryam Nawaz for leading Punjab with sincerity.
"She is not just a chief minister but serves with the spirit of a mother and daughter," he remarked.
PA members appreciated CM Maryam Nawaz’s projects, including Clean Punjab, Kisan Card, scholarship programs, road infrastructure projects, 'Dhi Rani' program, and healthcare initiatives. The members expressed admiration about the leadership of Maryam Nawaz.
The CM said, "Being Nawaz Sharif’s daughter and following Shehbaz Sharif’s legacy of public service is a great responsibility. Your trust and guidance are our strength and key to success."
The meeting also covered future economic strategies and welfare plans. Senior party leaders, including Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Rana Sanaullah, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, and Rashid Nasrullah, were also present.
