SAWABI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) held a rally here on Saturday to mark Black Day against what it said rigging in elections on Feb 8, 2024, with its leaders in their speeches criticising the federal government for running the country in an 'undemocratic manner' and 'muffling the voices of dissidents' in one way or the other.

Addressing the charged rally, PTI leader Barrister Gohar said democracy would exist when votes were counted, alleging PTI’s mandate was stolen in Feb 8, 2024 elections.

“We demand rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. Our mandate was stole in the dead of night.

“The prosperity of the people of Pakistan depends on better economy. We want to safeguard the Constitution,” the PTI leader said in his address to the rally.

Addressing the mammoth rally, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said the present government did not rule the hearts of people.

“We will fight, die, and move forward. We hold green flag in our hands, and green colour symbolises peace,” the firebrand PTI leader said.

The chief minister stated that he had conveyed to the army chief about terrorism in the country, particularly in KP. “There is also terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. You cannot defeat terrorism without the support of people,” he added.

Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that the government stole the mandate last year and it should be removed for this reason.

He said that “the country is sinking because of the wrong policies of the government.” The government would not last long because the [PTI] supporters have come out.

PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said the government had been making policies which were detrimental to the interest of the nation and the country.

Their policies and strategies had been harming the integrity of Pakistan and “greatly damaged” it at the international level.

Former speaker Asad Qaiser said only option for the PTI was to go to the masses and they were standing in front of the people in Swabi, educating them about the wrong policies of the government.

Recently appointed KP PTI President Junaid Akbar also addressed the rally and said his party wanted to see the institutions strengthened.

Sheikh Waqas Akram also spoke on the occasion.
