CJCSC, services chiefs express grief over Iftikhar Sirohey's demise

May Allah bless the departed soul, they said in a statement issued by the ISPR
RAWALPINDI (APP): Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and the Services Chiefs express heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of Admiral (Retired) Iftikhar Ahmed Sirohey, former CJCSC and Chief of Naval Staff.
“May Allah bless the departed soul and give strength to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss, Ameen” they said in a statement issued by the ISPR.
Iftikhar Ahmed Sirohey’s naval career started in 1955 as a midshipman, and he took training at the Pakistan Military Academy and later travelled to the UK to attend the Royal Naval College in Greenwich. There, he specialised in signals/navigation and earned a degree in electrical engineering.
He was then inducted into the Navy’s Engineering Branch, and was part of the 1965 and 1971 wars against India, where he demonstrated his leadership and expertise.
He served as the Pakistan Navy chief from 1986 to 1988 and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee from 1988 to 1991.
