DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Dunya News) - Police successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on a police check post in Dera Ismail Khan late on Wednesday night, killing two militants in a timely response.

According to DPO Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmed, terrorists launched an attack on the Khatti police check post in the outskirts of Dera Ismail Khan. Police personnel stationed at the post responded promptly, engaging the attackers and foiling their attempt to breach the checkpoint. As a result of the exchange of fire, two militants were killed on the spot.

The DPO confirmed that one police official sustained injuries during the attack and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The injured officer is reported to be out of danger.

Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmed praised the bravery and professional conduct of the police personnel, stating that their courage and swift action prevented a major security incident. He reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to maintaining law and order and taking firm action against elements attempting to disrupt peace in the region.

Security in the area has been tightened following the incident, and a search operation was carried out to ensure no other attackers were present nearby.
