Marriyum Aurangzeb meets ADB delegation to discuss Punjab’s health, education, agriculture, flood management, climate resilience, and digital governance initiatives.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb met with a high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to discuss ongoing and proposed projects in sectors including health, education, agriculture, flood management, climate resilience, and other key areas.
The ADB delegation included Director AFR Jean Feng Zhang, Country Director Emma Fan, Program Officer Khayam Sohail Abbasi, and Nisanka Salgado. During the meeting, a detailed exchange of ideas was held on development priorities and strategies.
Marriyum Aurangzeb highlighted that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif development projects are being implemented with transparency, digitization, and effective planning. She introduced Punjab One Map, a comprehensive digital map covering land, underground assets, population, and infrastructure, aimed at improving planning and management across all sectors.
On education and health, the minister stated that demand-based planning is underway for medical districts, modern cath labs, and educational facilities. She added that the Safe City Project will be completed in all 36 districts by June, while 160,000 homes will be delivered to citizens within the same timeline.
Under the e-mobility transport vision, metro projects, e-buses, and e-bikes are being introduced in Gujranwala and Faisalabad. Additionally, 98% of the Social Economic Registry data has been completed, and 186 public services have been digitized.
In agriculture, significant progress has been made in e-modernization, agricultural mechanization, agri-business malls, aquaculture, and shrimp farming. Farmers will receive 20,000 spreaders and mulchers this year, helping reduce production costs and improve environmental sustainability.
The report also highlighted initiatives in flood management, irrigation, climate action plans, cold storage, logistics, and value addition, including the establishment of the region’s first climate observatory.
The ADB delegation praised Punjab’s reforms, digital governance, and agricultural development efforts, promising support for agriculture, value addition, exports, and fisheries.
Marriyum Aurangzeb concluded by thanking the delegation and invited them to participate in the Basant Festival with their families.
