Her remarks came a day after the former prime minister was shifted to hospital for follow-up treatment related to his eye condition
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Aleema Khanum, sister of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan, on Wednesday delivered a sharp rebuke of the party’s senior leadership and the Islamabad High Court (IHC), questioning both the handling of her brother’s medical treatment and the continued delay in fixing his cases for hearing.
Her remarks came a day after the former prime minister was shifted to hospital for follow-up treatment related to an eye condition that surfaced in late January.
The move, however, sparked concern within sections of the party and the family, who objected to what they described as secrecy surrounding the medical procedure and the exclusion of family members from the decision-making process.
Speaking to reporters outside the court premises, Aleema said that her brother’s health was the family’s foremost priority and insisted that no medical decisions should be taken without their consent.
She referred to a February 17 statement by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who had publicly stated that Imran Khan had received medical treatment.
Aleema questioned why neither the party leadership nor officials had clarified the nature of the treatment.

“Why is there silence over what treatment was carried out?” she asked, adding that conflicting accounts had deepened the family’s concerns.
Aleema alleged that the family had proposed a panel of doctors — including Dr Asim, Dr Uzma Khan and Dr Barki — and had requested that the examination be conducted at Shifa International Hospital.
According to her, those recommendations were either turned down or went unanswered.
She claimed the family later learned that treatment had instead been conducted at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), without their knowledge.
“We were demanding treatment at Shifa International Hospital. When we raised our concerns, we were sent to jail,” she said, alleging that pressure was being exerted on government doctors involved in the process.
She added that the family would no longer rely on private meetings to address such matters and would instead bring their concerns into the public domain.
Aleema also expressed frustration over what she described as the inaction of senior PTI lawyers and office-bearers.
Naming party figures such as Hamid Khan, Ali Zafar, Latif Khosa and Barrister Gohar, she questioned why they were not actively pursuing the cases pending against the party founder.
“Where are the senior lawyers who were given party tickets? He repeatedly asked them to get his cases filed,” she said.
She further claimed that information regarding medical arrangements and meetings was being communicated by the interior minister rather than party representatives. “Should we receive updates from the minister or from our own party?” she asked.
On the legal front, Aleema criticized delays in the scheduling of hearings, saying the former premier had been appearing in court for the past 13 months but continued to face procedural obstacles.
“We sit in court for hours, yet the cases are not fixed,” she said.
