KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) central spokesperson, Shazia Marri, on Monday said that bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiation table is proof of Pakistan’s successful diplomacy.
In her statement on Islamabad Talks, Shazia Marri hailed Pakistan role in bringing Iran, US to negotiation table. She said that Pakistan once again played a positive role for peace, and the Islamabad negotiations are an important development.
She added that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has termed the Islamabad Talks as the biggest success so far. According to Bilawal Bhutto, the very occurrence of talks is itself a major breakthrough.
The PPP spokesperson said that not war, but negotiations are the solution to the issue, and Islamabad has shown the way. According to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the world has no “Plan B,” and peace must succeed.
Shazia Marri further said that a temporary reduction in tensions has kept hopes for peace alive. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto described the ceasefire and reduction in bombing as positive signs. Despite no formal agreement, progress has been made, and the softening of attitudes is encouraging.
The PPP spokesperson added that Pakistan will continue its efforts for peace at every level, and the international community should also support the negotiation process. Backchannel contacts are ongoing, and the doors for dialogue have not been closed.
Shazia Marri also said that Islamabad has emerged as an important centre for peace and dialogue. Conflicts benefit no one; they destroy lives and livelihoods. She expressed hope that these efforts will lead to lasting stability in the region.
