KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review wheat procurement for the rabi season 2025-26 and ordered Food Department to accelerate wheat procurement campaign in the province.
The CM instructed officials to give special attention to small farmers and said that wheat should be purchased only from farmers who have received subsidies. He also ordered that wheat procurement centres in all districts be activated immediately.
Murad Ali Shah said that any delay in wheat procurement will not be tolerated and added that timely payments to farmers must be ensured.
The Chief Minister also directed that farmers who use their own wheat bags (bardana) should be compensated according to the approved rate to encourage them.
He emphasized transparency and efficiency in the wheat procurement process and instructed authorities to prevent hoarding and illegal movement. The support price for wheat has been set at Rs 3,500 per 40kg.
