Summary 5.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Islamabad, KP and nearby regions. Epicenter in Hindu Kush Afghanistan at 199 km depth. No loss of life or property reported so far.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other cities, causing panic among residents.

According to the seismic monitoring center, tremors were also recorded in Swat, Hangu, North Waziristan and Chitral.

In addition, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar also experienced noticeable shaking. The seismic center stated that the earthquake measured 5.5 on the Richter scale, with a recorded depth of 199 kilometers.

The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountain region of Afghanistan.

Due to the quake, various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were shaken, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Haripur, Malakand, Swabi, Khyber, Swat, Buner, Shangla and Chitral. Tremors were also felt in several regions of Afghanistan.

Authorities confirmed that no loss of life or property has been reported so far following the earthquake.
