ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Public and goods transport has been allowed to enter Islamabad, as the federal capital’s administration eases earlier restrictions and restores movement across the city.
According to an official announcement, all bus terminals across the city have been reopened, with the exception of the Faizabad Bus Terminal, which will remain closed until further notice. The decision signals a partial return to routine transport operations, while certain key hubs remain under restrictions.
The move comes alongside a broader set of administrative measures focused on austerity and energy conservation, prompting the district administration to revise operating hours for various business sectors. A new schedule has been issued, setting clear timelines for commercial activity across the capital.

Under the notification, shops, markets and shopping malls will now close by 8pm. However, essential services have been exempted from this restriction, including pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations and dairy outlets, ensuring uninterrupted access to critical services for residents.
Food-related businesses have been given slightly extended hours. Restaurants, traditional tandoors, grocery stores and other food outlets will be permitted to operate until 10pm. Authorities have clarified that takeaway and delivery services will continue without any restrictions, allowing businesses to maintain operations beyond physical closing hours.

The revised schedule also applies to event and recreational sectors. Marriage halls, marquees and event venues are required to close by 10pm, aligning with the broader effort to reduce energy consumption during late hours. Similarly, sports facilities, clubs and gyms will operate until 10pm under the new guidelines.
Officials have urged both citizens and the business community to ensure full compliance with the updated timings. The administration has emphasised that adherence to the new schedule is essential for maintaining order and supporting the city’s ongoing efficiency measures.
