PESHAWAR (Web Desk) - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allowed hunting of the Russian dove under regulated conditions aimed at maintaining ecological balance.
According to the Wildlife Department, the hunting season will continue until May 31, 2026, under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015.
The permission applies only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and is limited to individuals holding a valid small game shooting licence.
Officials said strict rules have been enforced, including a daily limit of eight birds per hunter.
Violators exceeding the limit will face a fine of Rs5,000 per bird along with legal action.
Hunting before sunrise and after sunset has been completely banned.
Authorities warned that any hunting outside designated days would lead to immediate legal action.
Wildlife teams will continuously monitor bird populations and may impose a ban if required.
Spokesperson Latif ur Rehman said the initiative is part of broader efforts to protect the environment, promote sustainable practices and conserve wildlife.
