Summary Punjab signed LDA UNICEF agreement to make Lahore child friendly, improving safety, education, health and inclusion of children in policymaking.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - A key step has been taken to transform Lahore into a child-friendly city under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and UNICEF Pakistan, with Chairperson Child Protection Bureau Sarah Ahmed attending as chief guest.

Sarah Ahmed said protection of children’s rights is being prioritised under the leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz, with efforts underway to create a safe and supportive urban environment for children.

She added that collaboration between LDA and UNICEF would prove a milestone in child welfare, aligning with the chief minister’s vision.

The government is also focusing on including children’s voices in policymaking as part of broader reforms.

Officials said steps have been accelerated to make Lahore Pakistan’s first child-friendly city, with emphasis on improving education, health and recreational facilities.

Sarah Ahmed reiterated that the Child Protection Bureau remains committed to ensuring a safe and bright future for children, terming the initiative a practical manifestation of the chief minister’s vision.
