BAKU (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that Punjab is moving forward by overcoming challenges through comprehensive measures.
Addressing the World Urban Forum in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, Maryam Nawaz said she was pleased to participate in the forum and had brought a message of goodwill from Pakistan’s leadership and people.
She said she was grateful to the Azerbaijani leadership for their warm hospitality, adding that Azerbaijan’s progress under President Ilham Aliyev was commendable.
She also described Azerbaijan’s founding president Heydar Aliyev as a true friend of Pakistan.
The Punjab chief minister said the province was overcoming challenges through integrated initiatives, adding that cities are not just about roads and buildings but are linked to human development.

She said the Punjab Economic Registry Survey had been launched to collect social and economic data.
Maryam Nawaz said a revolutionary housing initiative “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” had been launched in the housing sector, while 2,000 villages across the province were being equipped with modern facilities under the Model Village project.
She added that the development of rural areas was essential for ensuring equal access to facilities.
She further said that highways and infrastructure were being upgraded to improve connectivity, while infrastructure development was also being aligned with climate change challenges.
She added that special focus was being placed on promoting the tourism sector.
