Summary NDMA has issued a severe weather alert warning of rain, hail, floods, and landslides across multiple regions.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Emergency Operations Centre of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of potentially hazardous weather conditions across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir over the next 12 to 24 hours.
According to the alert, several districts of Punjab including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, and others are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain with thunderstorms is expected in areas including Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Malakand, and surrounding regions.
Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir regions, including Skardu, Hunza, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, and other districts, are also forecast to receive rain with thunder and possible hailstorms.
The NDMA warned that hailstorms and strong winds may damage weak structures and installations, while northern areas face heightened risks of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), landslides, and rising water levels in streams and rivers.
Authorities said landslides could severely impact major routes including the Karakoram Highway, Naran Road, Skardu Road, and other connecting highways, potentially disrupting travel and tourism activities in northern regions.
Tourists and travellers have been advised to check weather and road conditions before planning travel to northern areas.
The NDMA urged the public to stay updated through its official mobile application “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert” and directed provincial and district authorities to remain on high alert.
