LAHORE (Dunya News) - Police have registered a case against a contractor after a child fell into an open manhole in the Bagbanpura area of Lahore.
According to official sources, the FIR was lodged at Baghbanpura Police Station on the complaint of Sub-Engineer WASA, Shehzad Hasan.
The FIR states that development work is currently underway in UC-134, Ali Park Bazaar, where a private company, Muhammad Rashid, Ashraf and Brothers, has been assigned sewerage and water supply installation work.
It further mentions that covering manholes in the area is also the responsibility of the contractor firm.
Due to uncovered manholes in the streets of Chora Bazaar, a young girl fell into an open drain. Local residents immediately rescued the child.
The complaint alleges negligence on the part of contractor Suleman, stating that the incident occurred due to failure to properly secure the construction site.
Police have initiated legal proceedings against the contractor following the registration of the case.
