LAHORE (Dunya News) – At least five people were killed and several others injured in rain-related incidents across Punjab during the last 24 hours, rescue officials said on Friday.
Heavy rain and strong winds swept across the province on Thursday, triggering incidents of electrocution, lightning strikes, and the collapse of walls and roofs in several districts.
According to Punjab Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmed, two people died in lightning strikes in Narowal, one man was killed after a tree fell on him in Gujranwala, while two others lost their lives in separate weather-related incidents in Lahore.

The spokesperson said rescue teams shifted the seriously injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Pakistan remains one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change and has witnessed a growing number of extreme weather events, including heavy rainfall, floods, heatwaves, cyclones, and droughts in recent years.
Torrential rains that hit various parts of the country in late March and early April pushed the nationwide death toll from weather-related incidents beyond 80.
Last year, intense monsoon rains, coupled with excess water released from Indian dams, triggered flash floods that claimed the lives of at least 1,000 people across Pakistan.
