Opposition leaders chose to skip budget session despite PM's invitation: Sanaullah

Summary Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah said that opposition members are still welcome to visit the Prime Minister’s House for discussions.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Friday said that opposition leaders chose to skip the federal budget session despite invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He stated this while talking to journalists after the cabinet meeting. When a journalist asked whether any discussion had taken place regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the meeting, Rana Sanaullah replied that the meeting focused exclusively on budget-related matters.

Rana Sanaullah said that the situation in Azad Kashmir had improved significantly compared to the previous two days.

He also stated that Shehbaz Sharif had offered the opposition three opportunities to hold discussions on the budget. Rana Sanaullah said that if the opposition did not wish to speak directly with the Prime Minister, they could engage through the Speaker National Assembly.

He emphasized that Shehbaz Sharif has always believed in dialogue, which is why the opposition had been invited to talks on several occasions. Rana Sanaullah further said that opposition members are still welcome to visit the Prime Minister’s House for discussions.

He also informed that a few days earlier, a meeting had taken place between the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi. He said that Sohail Afridi had also attended a CEC meeting two days ago.
