PDMA forecasts rain across most Punjab districts over next two days

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast rainfall across most districts of the province over the next two days and issued alerts to local administrations to ensure preparedness for possible weather-related emergencies.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, rain is expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab and Sargodha. Showers are also likely in Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot and surrounding areas.

Rain is also expected in Chiniot, Okara, Kasur, Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur.

PDMA Director General Umar Javed said commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been placed on alert on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. He warned that rainfall could lead to increased water flow in rivers and streams.

He advised the public to remain in safe places during thunderstorms, avoid open areas during lightning, take precautions against dust storms and strong winds, and urged tourists travelling to northern areas to exercise caution.
