Summary Pakistan and Sri Lanka agreed to strengthen cooperation on anti-narcotics, police training, illegal immigration, money laundering and visa issues during talks in New York.
NEW YORK (Dunya News) – Federal Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Sri Lankan Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, where the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on counter-narcotics efforts and law enforcement.
According to official sources, the ministers agreed to enhance coordination on police training and expand collaboration to curb illegal immigration and the use of forged passports for international travel.
Both sides also decided that the heads of their respective immigration authorities would establish immediate contact to advance cooperation in these areas.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed a proposed memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation against organised criminal networks and money laundering.
Mohsin Naqvi and Ananda Wijepala also agreed to establish a joint working group to deepen collaboration between the interior ministries of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The two sides further agreed to resolve visa-related issues on a priority basis.
