ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Sunday shared that an anti-Pakistan social media propaganda network linked to India's intelligence agency has been exposed, claiming the banned Joint Action Committee maintained connections with Indian elements.
In a video statement, Tarar said a coordinated campaign had been carried out on social media with the aim of inciting the public against Pakistan's state institutions.
He maintained that individuals associated with the banned Action Committee would have to answer to the nation for their actions, accusing them of participating in activities designed to undermine public trust in state institutions.
The information minister claimed that the network responsible for spreading misinformation and anti-Pakistan narratives had links to India and was intended to create distrust between the public and state institutions.
Tarar further said that if the leaders of the banned Action Committee were genuinely committed to the interests of Kashmir, they should participate in the democratic process by contesting elections rather than pursuing what he described as movements based on the use of force.
The minister also claimed that security forces had arrested an individual allegedly involved in an anti-Pakistan propaganda campaign while operating under the guise of a digital marketing business.
According to Tarar, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had allegedly received content from India, much of it related to the Action Committee's campaign and narratives circulated on social media.
He reiterated that, according to the government's assessment, the misinformation network had links to India and alleged that the banned Action Committee was connected to the same network.
The claims made by the information minister have not been independently verified, and no response from representatives of the Action Committee was immediately available.
