Summary Provincial cabinet approves 7.5% increase in minimum wages, with revised rates effective from July 1, 2026
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh provincial cabinet has approved a 7.5 per cent increase in the minimum monthly wage for workers across the province, raising the rate for unskilled labourers from Rs40,000 to Rs43,000.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister, according to the chief minister’s spokesperson.
The revised minimum wage will be applicable from July 1, 2026, the spokesperson said.
Under the approved wage structure, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled workers will also receive corresponding increases in their minimum wages.
The revised rates will apply to all notified industrial and commercial establishments across Sindh. The government said the measure is aimed at ensuring effective implementation of the minimum wage system and providing greater economic protection to workers.
The chief minister said the Sindh government was committed to improving the welfare of labourers and protecting their economic interests. He added that various reforms were being implemented to safeguard workers’ rights and improve their livelihoods.
The provincial cabinet also approved several other decisions relating to health, justice and workers’ welfare during the meeting.
