LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab’s educational boards have decided to introduce major reforms to make the examination system more transparent, effective and student-friendly.

Under the proposed reforms, changes will be introduced across the examination process, from preparation of question papers to the compilation and announcement of results.

Question papers will include a balanced combination of easy, difficult and highly difficult questions, keeping students’ abilities and academic standards in view.

An item bank will also be developed to prepare question papers, aimed at improving the quality, consistency and balance of questions in examinations.

Changes will also be introduced in the marking system, with separate marks allocated for different stages of solving a question so that students’ correct efforts and step-by-step solutions can be assessed appropriately.

According to officials, from next year, the results of the first annual Intermediate Part-I examinations will be announced in the second week of August instead of September.

All educational boards have been directed to implement the proposed examination reforms.

The chairman of the Examination Task Force said the reforms would enhance transparency, improve the effectiveness of the examination system and make the process easier for students.
