ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced the formation of a united opposition after meeting Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai at the Parliament House.

Fazlur Rehman met Achakzai in his chamber, with Kamran Murtaza and Maulana Wasey accompanying the JUI-F chief, while Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai and Asad Qaiser were present with Achakzai.

Speaking briefly to the media before the meeting, Fazlur Rehman said that if the matter had been in his hands, PTI founder Imran Khan would have received treatment by now.

After the meeting, Fazlur Rehman said consultations had been held with the opposition leaders in the Senate and National Assembly, with a principled agreement reached on moving toward a united opposition.

He said the opposition parties wanted to play a joint parliamentary role, adding that further consultations and meetings would be held to develop the alliance.

Fazlur Rehman also said an environment should be created for an All-Parties Conference of opposition parties, expressing hope that the initiative would make a positive start.

Asked whether the Pakistan Peoples Party would also be included in the alliance, Fazlur Rehman replied that the PPP was part of the government.
