LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) – The Lahore High Court has admitted Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari’s petition seeking permission to record her statement through video link and issued notices to Falak Javed and other respondents.
Justice Abher Gul Khan heard Azma Bukhari’s petition seeking permission to record her statement via video link. Advocate Ali Zahid Bukhari appeared before the court on behalf of the provincial information minister.
The counsel argued that the decisions of the judicial magistrate and additional sessions judge were contrary to the facts and that the trial court had not properly heard the petitioner’s position.
He told the court that Azma Bukhari was a provincial minister and faced a threat from a religious organisation. He requested permission for her statement to be recorded through video link and sought the annulment of the trial court’s decision.
After admitting the petition for hearing, the Lahore High Court issued notices to Falak Javed and other respondents and sought their responses.
The case relates to proceedings concerning the alleged circulation of a fake video involving Azma Bukhari. In an earlier hearing, Bukhari had appeared before a Lahore court and recorded her statement as the complainant.
