Summary Says entire Islamabad remained under ‘siege’ due to PTI, urging parties demonstrate responsibility
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that Islamabad was effectively ‘under siege’ due to activities by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), urging political parties to demonstrate responsibility.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Memon said the government had spent millions of rupees on the installation and subsequent removal of containers during protests. He said political parties should act responsibly, adding that members of his own leadership had also been arrested in the past, but, according to him, they did not adopt similar measures.
The Sindh minister also highlighted ongoing development work in Karachi, saying that work on University Road was almost complete. He said the Meteorological Flyover had been inaugurated and praised the project team for completing the work at a rapid pace.
Memon said transportation difficulties faced by citizens on University Road had been addressed.
He added that work on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was also progressing, with stations and other related infrastructure being completed rapidly.
