Summary KP CM Sohail Afridi will lead the march from the southern districts of the province
(Dunya News) - The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political committee has approved a long march scheduled to begin on October 4, according to party sources.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the political committee chaired by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, where participants discussed the proposed long march, possible federal government action against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and other political matters.
According to sources, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will lead the march from the southern districts of the province.
The sources said the long march had evolved into an anti-government movement and would enter Islamabad after several weeks of political activities. A decision on the final destination of the march would be taken later.
Senior PTI leaders have also given the chief minister the go-ahead to initiate the march, sources said.
The party leadership has decided that any federal action against the provincial government would be met with a public mobilisation. In case of an emergency or imposition of governor’s rule, the party plans to stage a sit-in outside the Governor House, according to PTI sources.
The political committee also approved the formation of a legal team to pursue legal action against any potential federal measures targeting the provincial government.
