Summary Jamaat-e-Islami has accepted PTI’s invitation to the APC and opposed governor’s rule or emergency in KP, while calling for dialogue and restoration of the democratic process.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has accepted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) invitation to attend an All-Parties Conference (APC) and opposed the imposition of governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A PTI-led delegation met JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman in Islamabad. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Opposition Leader Allama Nasir Abbas, senior politician Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and PTI-nominated Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, among other leaders, attended the meeting.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Hafiz Naeem said JI had accepted the invitation to participate in the APC. He said a national consensus was needed on peace and security, the economic situation, people’s right to governance and the restoration of the democratic process.

Allama Nasir Abbas said the purpose of the APC was to bring political parties together to discuss the challenges facing Pakistan and find ways to address them. He said Pakistan belonged to its 250 million people rather than any single political party, institution, military or bureaucracy, and called for an end to violence and political and social divisions.

Hafiz Naeem opposed the imposition of governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying JI would not support any step aimed at suspending or violating the Constitution or undermining the existing system for specific purposes.

He said the government should have started meaningful negotiations much earlier, adding that delays had worsened the situation. He welcomed the formation of a committee for talks but said the dialogue should not remain limited to formal meetings or photo sessions and should produce tangible progress.

Hafiz Naeem said PTI founder Imran Khan was a leader of his party and that restrictions on meetings between him and party leaders were not appropriate. He said access to meetings should be restored after negotiations.

He also called for concerns regarding Imran Khan’s health to be addressed and demanded implementation of the Supreme Court’s decision in accordance with its spirit.

The JI emir said that despite political differences, Imran Khan was a former prime minister and an important figure in the political process, so concerns about his health could not be ignored.

Hafiz Naeem also expressed concern over detained women, including Imran Khan’s sisters and Dr Yasmin Rashid, and said detained political leaders facing health issues should be provided necessary facilities.

He also mentioned health concerns involving detained leaders including Ijaz Chaudhry, Mahmood Rashid and Aamir Chima, saying there should be no hurdles in their bail and courts should be allowed to perform their role.

Hafiz Naeem said progress on these demands could help reduce political tensions and improve the situation. He added that political parties should develop a joint agenda not only around their own demands but also for restoring the democratic, constitutional and political process.
