ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif effectively presented Pakistan’s position on key global and regional issues before world leaders during the United Nations General Assembly session.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Dar described the prime minister’s visit to New York as highly successful, saying Sharif spoke in detail about Kashmir, Palestine, regional security and other international issues.
Dar said the prime minister highlighted India’s alleged violations of the Indus Waters Treaty and briefed the international community on the conflict with India.
He also discussed tensions between Iran and the United States and their repercussions for regional stability.
According to Dar, Pakistan also shared its diplomatic efforts to help reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran.

He said high-level talks between the United States and Iran were held in Islamabad after 47 years, describing the development as an important milestone in Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
Dar said Sharif also outlined Pakistan’s position on vital international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, stressing that such routes were the lifelines of the global economy and must remain open.
The foreign minister said PM Sharif held productive meetings with several world leaders and international figures, including Bill Gates, Prince Rahim Aga Khan and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.
Dar added that Sharif raised concerns over terrorism originating from Afghanistan and represented Pakistan at the Global Development Initiative meeting.
He said Pakistan’s position received significant attention during the UN visit.
